THE LANDING

2016 ROSE

To make this lively Rosé, hand-picked Syrah grapes were fermented at a cool temperature to retain their delicate fruit flavours. Dusky pink in colour, it displays a subtle raspberry bouquet coupled with a rich, full palate. Hints of fresh peach and fruit sweetness are balanced by a crisp, refreshing finish.

2015 CHARDONNAY

This rich, full-bodied Chardonnay was whole-bunch pressed and cool fermented to preserve the fruit characters. Malolactic fermentation, long lees contact and 12 months in French barriques have resulted in a generous, well-rounded wine with undertones of toasty oak. Cellar one to six years.

THE LANDING

2013 SYRAH

Hand-picked at the end of March 2013 at 24.5 brix, the fruit was immediately crushed and fermented in open top stainless steel vats followed by 16 months of maturation in French oak barriques. Deep red in colour and full of flavour, this is a refined and elegant Syrah which reflects the hot dry summer the north enjoyed. Inviting bouquet of ripe black fruits with black currant, raspberry and blue berry; pepper, brown spices and chocolate, a touch of clove and black honey. On the palate – delicious! All that the bouquet suggests with core of fruit, meaty to fine tannins, medium+ acidity, full of flavour, complexity and finish. Drink now and through 2020. It is the perfect match for venison, lamb or simply enjoyed with a wedge of your favourite cheese.

THE LANDING

2011 SYRAH

This deeply coloured syrah is drinking beautifully now and will continue to develop into the 2020’s. Hand picked on April 1 2011, matured in French barriques and cellared in The Landing’s underground barrel room, this is an elegant yet powerful wine. With fragrant fruit flavours, silky tannins and aromas of honey, and dark chocolate, we love this wine with a tender cut of venison, beef or even tuna – lightly charred on the barbeque.

VINEYARD

Weaving across the property, vines are grown in an almost subtropical climate – warm, humid and sunny. First planted with Chardonnay and Syrah in 2007, the vineyard has expanded over recent years with plantings of Sangiovese, Pinot Gris, Montepulciano, Malbec, Cabernet Franc and Merlot, extending the area under vine.
Processed at local winery, Marsden Estate, by award-winning winemaker Rod MacIvor, the wines are then cellared on the property at The Landing.
Accredited by Sustainable Wines New Zealand, the vineyard adheres to environmentally responsible grape growing and winemaking practices such as biodiversity, water preservation and energy efficiency.
